LOL! I just did the exact same thing to my 98. Bought a (gently) totaled parts vehicle with 120k less mileage on it and swapped the engine/trans into mine. Easiest engine swap I have ever done! I'm kinda new to this so I hope my questions aren't too annoying but what does the slip yoke eliminator (SYE) do for you?

It replaces the tail of the transfer case. The stock tail end of the tcase holds the slip yoke (allows driveshaft the move in and out as the suspension cycles), the SYE makes the driveshaft connection at the tcase a solid connection and moves the slip yoke to the rear driveshaft so that it can slide in and out easier.

This is really only required when you lift above a certain amount that causes the rear driveshaft to operate at an angle that it was not meant to and you get rear driveline vibration. A lot of people install a transfer case drop however an SYE is the right way to fix it. An SYE does require a new rear driveshaft with a double cardan (CV) joint, installing a front driveshaft in the rear with an SYE is pretty popular.

    installed headlight relay harness.
the $15 harness is nice, well made. i added a ground extension from driver side to pass ground and up to the batt. no hidden ground and direct to -12 batt. found the hard way ,i should have fished wires down thru by batt instead of up thru!. took longer but works good, much brighter. wish the cable was about 6 inches longer.
    all new connections soldered.
my 2 lights have a different pattern on my barn wall and i need to lower one. lubed the screws today. will try tomorrow.
    15 bucks well spent.

Pulled the engine and trans out of the 97 Donor. Next is to separate each engine from their respective drivetrain and mate the 97 engine to the 93 trans/tcase.

Welcome! Given the right set of upgrades the '98 GC can be built into a trail worthy SUV. Let's start with some pictures of this stock GC.

Nice. You could easily fit 33s too. As aggrex stated. You can very easily build it into a very trail worthy rig. Just depends how deep your pockets are. Lol. Good luck with it. Look forward to seeing your future upgrades. :)

Separated both engines from their trans/tcase and made a new fender mount for one of my ham radio antennas.

Luckily I don't have to remove the pilot bushing from the old 4.0 but I do have to install one in the newer 4.0 as it was in front of an auto trans there isn't a bushing/bearing in there to pull. I however neglected to order a new pilot bearing.

replacing rotted brakelines, fabricating brake lines flaring, bending, replacing hoses and I need a rear caliper. E brake is junk have to replace everything basically. It sat for 4 years here in NH when I bought it for $550. Making progress every day. My flaring ain't the best practicing today, cuz we got a few days a rain coming

Changed oil and top off some fluids in the 00 daily driver XJ and repaired the transfercase wiring harness that the rat that formerly occupied the Jeep snacked on.
