Can someone illustrate a 5 tire rotation diagram for directional tires?

    Thanks.

When my sports car had directional tires (4) there was only one-way to rotate them (see pic). Rotating directional tires from side-to-side will reverse their direction of rotation. Directional tires should only be rotated from front to rear or vice versa. Arrows imprinted on the sidewall indicate the rotational direction.

on a 2010 h3 i got 60000 on factory tires, no rotation,no cost,no work, saved spare with same type new tires. lazy man!! just put new tires on my 2000 sport so i dont see rotation as i dont drive as much now, jfwiw.

btw i CANT REMEMBER the last time i had a real flat tire!! many years ago...

also btw the old tires look great, about half worn evenly! for sale cheap!

    Thanks.

I plan on unmounting the tire to do a 5 tire rotation.

To rotate directional tires correctly you have to take them off the wheel and rotate them to keep the direction right. I would do a 4 tire rotation and when I get new tires make on e of the used ones as the spare and use the spare with the new tires.

@chris4x4 on the first diagram you posted... wouldn't the right front going to the left rear be backwards?? Unless the tire was dismounted and then flipped around to make it go the same direction that would be the only way to make it work correct??

The @chris4x4 diagram is one version of the five-tire rotation grid. Two tires would be dismounted for that five-tire rotation keeping all tires rotating in the correct direction. When the time comes for tires I will avoid directional at all costs as I'm sure the tires will get upset with repeated dismounting.

Yea seems like it would be a giant pain in the ass especially since you can't do all of them by yourself. And it costs money lol

Not if you buy them at Discount tire. They will do it free. I do the front to back myself, and the side to side I take to them. I like DT because they almost always beat everyones price and if not they will price match.

Ah that's cool. I don't have a discount tire near me so I don't know much about them. There isn't too many places around here that take care of their customers like that. They just charge you no matter what you need done. That's why one day when I'm a billionaire... I'm gonna open up a DIY garage with all the shit that one could need in a garage. Several bays, a shit load of tools, and a handful of certified mechanics to give help/advice when somebody has no idea what to do. And people can learn to do things on their own and not get ripped off by the big companies.

I'd be a customer. But sorry dude. I believe it's being done. There's a show on a cable station, some guy is doing that. Awesome idea. His garage, his tools, his experience and know how. And you pay a price. But....I really think it's a great idea. An experienced mechanic helping and letting you use his tools. Sweet deal. Cause I prefer to do all my own work. But hey Alex. Maybe the guy will let you buy a franchise. Loll. Still a great idea.

Edit. Don't have a discount tire near me either. Sucks cause they offer great prices and services.

I asked Scott at maxxis about this as i had the same concern and his response was that the tires take a much bigger beating on the trail than any amount of mounting and dismounting would do.

Discount tire is only charging me $30 for the 5 directional tire rotation with mounting and dismount.
