What's going on everyone? I have officially been a Jeep owner for a week now. So, naturally I now know everything about em:amen:. I got 1995 YJ with a 2.5L 5speed on 33in tires with a 4in lift. I waited to post because I wanted to get a better feel for the Jeep before I asked a thousands questions. I have done some work on her and have noticed a few things that need work. So without further to do:

    Replaced:
-Brake fluid, it was literally chocolate milk.
-Power steering fluid, it basically looked like strongest stout beer you can think of.
    -IAC,
    -IAT,
    -MAP,
    -TPS,
    -O2 Sensor,
-plugs, the last guy only replaced 3 BC he was obviously scared to move the A/C.
-Wires, one was badly cracked while others were very corroded.
-Fan shroud was held on by 2 zip ties, so I added multiple zip ties.
-Multiple Trans case bolts were very loose so I tightened them.

    Need to Fix:
-E-brake, doesn't keep the Jeep from rolling away!
-Brakes pull every which direction, need to replace all rotors and discs.
-Coolant flush, the radiator is all rusty inside.
    -clutch/trans fluid/leak stop????
-Trans bolt broken, it was a 3rd bolt on the bottom where the trans mounts to the skid plate, it had large rubber bushings and washers. Not sure if yall know what im talking about but I basically touched it and it snapped.
-Exhaust is rubbing against the front drive shaft!
-Speedo works when it wants to.
-Oil pressure gauges is always maxed out.
-Still smell very rich gas/exhaust even after replaces all of the above parts. Also not getting very good MPG's.
    -Steering can be very sketchy.
    -Seats are shot.
    -Seat belts are badly frayed.
-Sequels super bad when you first start her up. I know its something to do with the belt and the A/C just haven't looked to much into fixing it.
-Grinds really bad when you try and put it in reverse.
-After driving for a bit it becomes very difficult to put back into first gear.
-Need to replace all tie rod ends and ball joins.

With all that being said I love driving her and surprisingly she rolls pretty smooth. Any advice, tips, or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from yall.

Nice to-do-list! Be sure to inspect the brake+power steering lines for corrosion as some sections may be rusty from previous maintenance neglect. Keep an eye on the rusty radiator too.

Not a bad Idea, I did notice some small rust. However, the body and interior has been rhino lined. Thank GOD!!

Replacing the ball joints and steering linkage will really tighten up you handling. On my own vehicles I always go with Moog parts. This last YJ I built to sell and I bought the cheapest ball joints and steering linkage I could get on Parts geek.com and I think the total bill was under $60 for all. The Jeep drives great. Moog would have been $350. If I was going to keep it; for piece of mind I would still get Moog. I would love to see some pictures.

I like to fix old jeeps up and sell them. I am currently starting a 4x4 shop in West Houston, and will also have my dealer license as required by law if you buy and sale more than 5 vehicles a year (I hope to be doing all of the above).

    *****UPDATE****
I have recently replaced the transmission fluid and the transfer case fluid. Within a few days there was what I would consider a class 2 leak coming from the trans. Everything on the transfer case seams to be sealed tight. Besides stop leak and anew trans what would yall recommended my next step be to address the leak? I know I know pictures, however its dark outside so Ill get some tomorrow. I was also able to get a new clutch peddle cover. So much better on the left foot.

I did find a decent water proof cover to though over it instead of using the actual top. Just to much work for my old body.

I know ya'll are just ribbing me. Outside the few big expensive name brands like Moog, they all come from the same factory in China. This is the first time I have bought other than Moog when replacing steering parts, and I have been driving the jeep for 6 months now and still no problems. Not even Moog is made in the USA anymore. Its all made in Mexico. Do you want refried beans or fried rice with that.

Your jeep looks great. Has a nice stance. Can you see the tranny leak? Likely it is just a dried and cracked seal especially if it sat up a lot. Probably not a rebuild.

That's so funny it hurts but the reality is it affects the spectrum of brand name replacement parts whether hvac, refrigeration, electronics, etc.
For your personal vehicle it makes sense to spend a bit more for better quality (hopefully). It won't take long for the average jeeper to consider upgrading stock parts on their Jeep which could explain the J.E.E.P syndrome that affects some of us more than others.
