Question, anyone know if 4wheelparts.com usually have Black Friday deals on rims?

Just wondering because they currently have a rebate on those Mickey Thompson rims. Would end up getting $50 back if I buy before 11/15/18. But wondering if they would go on sale for Black Friday?

And still have to convince the wife somehow too lol.

Every year there seems to be plenty of BF deals from online venders. I posted a few deals last year in a deals thread so if you see something post it. Searching and selecting wheels+tires in your "cart" ahead of time makes sense as free shipping+mounting+balancing and any discounts will stretch the jeep $$. I like the hard rock wheels offered on QT as the back spacing is better than OEM wheels.

Wish I could do a package deal but don’t need the tires right now. Mine will still last quite a while. Plus I know the wife would not let me do both(spending lots of Mula) when I want to change tires since I want to go bigger to 33” tires. So want to change rims now ahead of when I need to change the tires.

It was tough finding rims I finally liked for my price range. So guess I should have asked do Mickey Thompson rims usually go on sale all the time?

And anyone know if they would change out the rims free or give a deal if I’m buying them at a 4wheelparts store? Instead of the $20 per tire charge?

Best thing would be to call the local store, and speak with a manager. Be polite, but ask if he could swing you a deal.

I'll try that and see if it works.

Also, my current tires are 255/75R17. Those will fit on 17" right?

Those tires will fit OEM or similar aftermarket 17" wheels

Looking to add spacers to have tires stick out a bit. Looking at one that is 1.25”

Have a few questions if anyone can answer.......

    - Does the spacer install just by removing wheel, placing spacer, and then placing wheel back on? Something I can do myself or does it need to be professionally installed?

    - Is the spacer visible(so does it matter what color) after I place everything back on? So if I’m doing black wheels eventually I should do black spacers right?

    - Does the spacers affect anything in regards to getting a lift in the future?

Thin rotor retaining clips that come from the production line should be removed and discarded. OEM wheels have clearance for these clips on the mounting surface on the back of the wheels. Aftermarket wheels may not have that clearance for the clips. Quality hub-centric wheel spacers like SpiderTrax come with instructions torque specs and red thread locker. Buy, borrow, steal a torque wrench to install the wheel spacers to specified torque specs. One good tip I got from @Blue Baby Sound was to recheck the torque after some use at a lower torque level in order not to break the threadlocker. Depending upon the wheels you upgrade to they may not need the wheel spacers and the wheel spacers may be visible.

Thanks for all the info aggrex!

So for the torque your saying not to tighten too tight so it doesn't strip?

I am looking at adding the Mickey Thompson Sidebiter II which are 17" wheels. And eventually in the future going to 33" or maybe more on tires(no bigger the 35" though).

These are the spacers I was looking at:

If you are buying new wheels get ones with the backspacing/offset that you want to stick the tires our a little. Spacers would be ok if you were running a stock wheel but you are already buying new wheels, might as well do it right the first time.

How wide are stock wheels so I can compare with the Mickey T's?

The back spacing or offset is what you would compare between new + old wheels. The OEM wheels are 6.25 back spacing

For example SpiderTrax hubcentric wheel spacers specifies the recommended torque to tighten the wheel spacers plus thread locker for best results.

So if I’m looking to have tires stick out 1” or 1.25” then would need to be 7.25”-7.5” back spacing?

Nope. I'm using 1.5" wheel spacers plus OEM wheels

    6.25 - 1.5 = 4.75

So the backspacing is if I’m going to go with wheel spacers to push the wheels out.

And if I get wheels that have backspacing of say 5.0 then I don’t need to get the 1.25” spacer because swapping 6.25 OEM to the 5.0 will already do that? That right?

Yup. I like my OEM wheels for now and won't be visiting the DMV for a few more years but ymmv whether your jurisdiction has a problem with wheel spacers
