    Need Help!

I have a 2017 Wrangler (14,000 miles) that has some normal mods. It has been through mud (as I live on a dirt road and it has been a a rainy season). The engine pulleys started to squeal after one of the larger rain storms and now Jeep is telling me that it is not covered under warranty since the car had outside influences (mud on the engine) that has caused this issue. However, many of their commercials market the cars going through lakes and huge mud puddles (which mine has not).

Has anyone else experienced being told that off roading your Jeep on a private road would void the warranty? Does anyone have advice on how to proceed?

    Thanks,

    ONE PISSED OFF JEEP OWNER

Welcome and what's a warranty? Never bought a new car in my life (56). So I got nothing on this one. Sounds like BS on Jeep's part tho.

You normally ask for codes . This can't be good.

If the dirt road is a public named and marked road maintained by the city, county, state etc it is not off-road and therefore legally cannot be denied insurance claims or warranty work. Sounds like you may have a fight.

Shouldn't it be written somewhere on the warranty that off roading will void the warranty. Unless it's specifically written on the warranty I don't see how they can deny it. American standard has the best manf. Warranty in the business, things that void your warranty are clearly outlined. On top of the fact why on Earth would you void someone's warranty. You don't work for Jeep you work for an independent dealer. Asshole move on the tech/dealership.

The mods are a lift, light bars, bumpers, radio, CB, on board air, winch, tires, etc.... nothing extreme. The repairs that they want to do are all of the pulleys and the tensioner since they claim they had some dirt on them (of course they do as they are located on the bottom front of the engine -- driving through a puddle will get them dirty) to the cost of about $1000. No codes just some annoying squealing noise (sounds like a dying hamster)... but there is some good news --

After showing up at the Jeep dealership with a number of videos saved to my phone showing the Jeep doing some extreme off roading and going through mud and rough condition, they agreed that Jeeps should be able to get dirty and not void a warranty (we were in the lobby of the dealership when they met with me surrounded by customers). The dealership ended up calling and receiving "special authorization" to do the $1000 worth of repairs (pulleys and tensioner). I told them that since I now know that some mud would void the warranty that in the future the car will be steam cleaned prior to coming in... I guess they expect us all to be soccer moms or dads and not to have over 100 acres to play on around Los Angeles!

And no there was no caked on mud or such, just the normal remnants that remain after trail driving and a good wash.

Yaasss....nice dude. I sat at a sales managers desk. And he said flat out. You can do what ever you want to as far as cosmetic upgrades. And up to a 3 inch lift, and not void the warranty. Sad you have to go in armed with videos and what not. But....least your on your way to happy trails again. Lollll.

I think it may be your dealer. Mine had engine codes going off and had a lot of things replaced under warranty including the head. Mine was muddy when I took it in and they never said a word. Matter of fact because mine went in several times for same code, they had a Chrysler engineer come look at it and said replace the head. Mine is a 2017 and here is a picture of what it looks like. My dealer is in a small town so a little more of tje good ole boy system where I live. May need to try another dealership.
