Soo I've only had my 2011 jeep wrangler jk a little over a month...
Just discovered I have No E BREAK.
Which I, usually don't use the E break when parking.. but was on a slight hill last night, put it in neutral and then pulled the e break slowly letting my foot off the break, well my jeep didn't wanna stay put, it just steadily rolled back so I finally gave up and just put it in park.. hate doing that it just binds soo bad, had.no choice..

What would cause the e break not to work???

    Thanks for any info

Do you feel any resistance in the lever when you apply the brake?

I would start by lifting the rear and pulling the rotors or drums not sure what JK has in rear. Make sure the shoes are not wore out from dragging and all cables are hooked and not came loose. If not, there is a slot at the bottom behind the dust plate that is for access to the star adjuster. With rear lifted spin the wheel and if you don't hear the shoe dragging the drum adjust the star with a screw driver till you hear the shoe drag. When there is a little drag while trying to spin it, at this point back off a touch and you should be good to go. I am old jeeps guy so JK is a new beast to me so there may be some new stuff on it I dont know about. Maybe someone with a JK can chime in here that has fixed this problem before.

One more question, is it possible that my jk could have disc breaks?

Is your jeep lifted? Does it have the stock rear axle?

If it doesn't have much resistance when you pull the lever the previous owner may have disconnected the e-brake all together.

You have disc brakes. See the caliper in the left photo above. Its the thing with the brake fluid line going to it.

The e brake shoes are in the center of the rotor, or top hat as its referred to. You really need to pull the rotor and check things out.

If its not your DD and you have a place and time to do it, we could walk you thru it step by step I am sure. Its not hard at all. Let us know the day your doing it and I will get on here and stay to answer any questions you have along the way. You can post pictures as you go along and we can tell ya whats next and how to do it. I'm old, got nothing better to do. :tumbleweed:

Just remembered, I have a step by step write up I did on rear disc brake e brake shoe replacement and adjustment somewhere with pictures. Will see if I can find it in case someone else needs this.
