I recently had a breakdown. At first we thought it was the alternator, so I bought a new one. Had it installed at a mechanic and the same problem would happen. After being jumped, it would start but putter out in like 4 minutes. The mechanic went out of their way and bought a different alternator from a different vendor; installed it and the same problem happened. It would start after a jump then putter out moments later. They had already tested the battery and said that it was good so they may have gotten a bad reading or something bc when I took it to AutoZone they tested it and said it was completely bad. They continued to let me know that this is and Advanced Auto battery so I'd have to go there. We did, and they were closed. So we went to Wal-Mart and bought a battery. Got all they way back, put it in, and she cranked right up. Its about 9pm CT at this point. I get the car home, thinking all is well yada yada yada. Get in this morning to go to the gas station, and halfway home, my battery indicator light came on in the dash.

Parasitic leak? other ideas? This has been a two week problem for me, having to get run around and find rides to and fro.

    Thanks,

    Jonah B.

    what model,year, engine.

    This appears a tough one-
    1) the alternator wiring was checked.
    2) charging circuit checked
    3)alternator output was checked.
    4) the system was scanned for codes. (if applicable)
    5) battery replaced with a known good battery.

that was all done OR did I miss something?

Welcome @jonahb1987 ...confirm at Autozone/Advance that the alternator+battery check out to eliminate those variables. While your there get any codes scanned.

bring us up to speed and let try to revolve this -

Can you use a test light, a volt meter and read a wiring diagram?
