Hi, I just joined the forums because I just bought a 2020 grand cherokee w/ halogen headlights.

I'm looking into swapping out the halogens w/ either the el cheapo LED bulbs that have those cooling fans on them, or a full headlight unit swap w/ Xenon HID headlights.

I see a bunch of the latter on eBay (2017, 2018, 2019)... Does anyone know if the 2017-2019 Xenon HID headlights will work (plug-n-play style) on a 2020 Grand Cherokee? Or would there be a more involved wiring/separate wiring harness purchase needed for something like that? They look really similar in terms of tab placement to my existing halogen headlights. I'm assuming I would need the NON-AFS version too.

Edit: Ah yeah, looks like I would need one of these harnesses: https://www.mhfautolighting.com/collections/conversion-harnesses/products/halogen-to-hid-harness

Anyone happen to have info on creating your own harness? $500 seems pretty steep to me for butting some wires together w/ heat shrink tubes.

    Thanks!
    -Gary

Welcome @garyb ....the jeep accessories aftermarket is huge and spendy. That harness is likely more than just butted heat shrinked wires. If the harness makes the DIY job plug+play it could be worth it. Messing with the canbus system in these electronic-laden jeeps can cause big problems.

Hi Gary, I just bought a 2020 Grand Cherokee as well. We originally picked out a Jeep with the HID lights. My wife preferred one that was another color. The salesman said that they were identical and I took his word for it. Anyway, I was wondering if you had any luck upgrading? Thank you, Curt
