Just put a hard top on my '04 TJ for the first time...decent craigs list find. The drivers side latch was a little loose- tightened it up ok. Inside is nice and quiet until I hit about 40mph...then it sounds very breezy from the front. There is no air leaking in from the front header area- just loud (not as loud as the soft top, but more than I thought). Is this normal? I guess I was expecting a more quiet ride...?

Welcome @lbr3570 ....assuming its the correct hard top for your TJ, the hard top is durable and strong but is not insulated against wind noise. Aftermarket headliners may help to reduce or lower some of that wind noise.

@aggrex thanks I didn't even know this was a thing. It really feels like it's coming from the front top of the windshield- although theres's no wind coming in-I need some rain (or a quick run through a wash) to make sure there's no leak from there...then I'll have a different question.

Have someone use a garden hose to simulate a rain storm and not a monsoon and look for any leaks. Home centers like HD/Lowes have foam trim that can help if needed. Since the hard top is used clean+condition any rubber seals and make sure all of them are present and not damaged. My 2016 JK might get a few drops on the rubber mat during a big violent storm but as long as the carpet remains dry its all good.

@chris4x4 thanks! So now that we’ve had rain... I’ve got some water coming in. Top Front corner of passenger door- I kinda think the door molding is old. What kind of molding can I use to replace it?

Also- Where the tailgate meets the window- there’s a gap- more molding or weather strip needed... (5th pic ) recommendations?

And... the back window on the top and bottom ledge- is there supposed to be molding there? Sorry never was in a hard top before! ( first 2 pics)

And just some other fun pics.

@LYFZGOOD so in that groove all around the whole back window there’s supposed to be weather stripping.

WOW. Ok found it. For the bottom glass of the window...do I have to replace the entire plastic strip with the molding or can I just do the molding... hmmm wish the craigslist guy gave me a heads up

Molding should be fine no need to replace the plastic I don’t think

Ok- so I did get some molding for the tailgate-seems to stop the leaking. the craigslist guy said he has the top of the window molding and was going to install it...so he is supposed to be sending it to me. Hmmm. AND I put extra molding around the window area and discovered today that there is a small crack in the actual TOP... NOW WHAT??? Talk to me about fiberglass patch??? Is this a thing? I texted the guy and asked if I can trade it in for one that doesn't leak...:argue:
