Well....blink and 2 months have gone by!

Progress on the XJ kind of froze, but I have gotten some solid time into it over the holidays.

Got the donor motor out of the 96, separated the tranny and Tcase, put those in storage for future needs. Got the donor motor on a stand and prepped, sensors and whatnot transferred over from the 99’s motor, flex plate transferred, intake and exhaust manifolds swapped, tune up done, valve cover gasket done, oil filter housing orings done.

Pan gasket and RMS comes in tomorrow.

Hope to have the motor and tranny back together by the weekend.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday season!

Got the pan gasket and RMS done tonight, new water pump on, all ready to be mated you to the transmission ahead of schedule!

Got to get a cleanup going on the shop though...it’s a mess and it’s driving me crazy...lol.

Time to get the 96 carcass listed and sold. It’s a titled chassis, which is a big deal to the commie states north and south of me. If it doesn’t sell I’ll just junk it with the bad motor in it and call it a day.

Had a change of plans, so I was able to get some time in the shop again today.

Got tranny bolted up, hoisted it all into the XJ. It’s great to have the motor back in there! I just got it bolted up, nothing wired yet. I’ll get to that later this week.

Just got it bolted in, nothing wired yet. I’ll have it wired and fired soon....

Can’t wait to hear this thing running again!

Got my own DIY SYE done tonight. Used the yolk from the donor XJ, cut it down, drilled it out, cut the tcase output shaft, bolted it all up. Came out good, got the tcase back in the XJ. Got the transmission cooling lines in, all the way to the new external cooler. Got the new coolant tank in, coolant filled, oil filled.

Driveshafts tomorrow, exhaust, transmission fluid, and hope for a first fire!!

What kind of issue? I had to get a shorter belt when I did the high mount alternator, but had no issues at all with it.

I’m happy to help with any info I have!

Can you post some picks from the side, clearly showing alignment? Is your setup modified at all (high mount alternator/different alternator/different belt)?

Does it pop off right away, or after a drive?

Is it just me, or does it look like your PS pulley is crooked? It looks a little tweaked to me.

Did this issue start after you did some work to it?

I also thought it looked crooked. Well I changed the pump after the pulley stopped spinning and threw the belt the first 2 times. Put the pump on and it did the same thing wondering if I get a new pulley for the pump? Or maybe go buy a brand new pump? I thought the bracket could be bent?

I’d say that bracket is tweaked...not sure how though! That is a head scratcher for sure!

The brand new belt did snap after that video. I wonder if somthing is seizing up? I'm ganna try a few ideas tommrow and see what happens maybe get a shorter belt and just get rid of that ac. And get a new bracket. Will make a new thread with everything I find.

I was giving this some more thought....I can’t imagine how the PS bracket could be tweaked that badly. The PS pump bolts directly to the intake manifold....there’d have to be some serious damage/issues for that to be tweaked like that.

I’ll be on the lookout for your thread on this!
