Ah that makes sense. Yea I have several vortex optics with ranging capabilities. With the memory of the formula and some simple math skills you can get a close estimate of the actual range for a clean shot/ kill

The Vortex on my Remington 700 .243 has a Mil based reticle I could range from. It's not real intuitive, so I'd need to work with it, but it could work. Haven't had it out much though.

Yea it takes a little getting used to but once you got it figured out it's not too bad. That .243 of yours is gorgeous!! I would like to have one just like it. Old school and new school all packed into one rifle just appeals to me

Had my Mosin M44 Carbine worked on by my gunsmith. He milled the rear sight base flat, then cut grooves in the sides of it so I could mount a Sig Romeo 5 red dot sight. Laced on a set of ammo pouches with gutted 550 cord, and viola, a Jeep gun. However, my son wants it, and this is my chance to get back my old Vickers edition Glock 17 so we're gonna trade. Had my 1916 Spanish Mauser done up for me same way. The 7mm Mauser doesn't kick old shoulders as hard anyhow.

I carry every time I leave my home. Here in Maine we have Conceal Carry. My favorite is my 9mm S&W M&P Shield. Small and pretty accurate at hitting its target.

It's a Rossi. It was a 24" that I has a gunsmith cut down to 17". Doesn't look like that now. Had the stock straightened, and a recoil pad added, along with a leather ammo cuff. Then a Steve's Gunz large loop added, and one of his peep sights that replaces the stupid bolt safety. A piece of leftover picatinny rail is on the top flat of the octagon barrel so I can mount a Sig Romeo 5 red dot, and a Streamlight in a Thorntail mount. It's just about one of the most fun guns I have to shoot, and deadly within 100 yds.

Also made some changes to the Lee Enfield...
She's filling more of a defensive role now.
The scout scope will be going on the Spanish Mauser.

    My EDC (in a Tommy's Kickin'-A GunPack) is a full-size S&W M&P 40 (1st-gen.) plus an extra mag that I keep loaded with Federal Premium 180g. HSTs..
    2020Jul21_M&P40 w litesite_1040816_1600w.jpg

Also currently have another M&P--a mid-size 45Auto--and a Tanfoglio Witness Polymer...
WP left side w lite and ammo boxes_1000w.jpg
...in 10mm Auto.. I now have LOTS of premium ammo for the .40 but little for the other two.. Instead of buying a bunch of expensive ammo for either of the other two, today I ordered a new ('M2.0') M&P 40 and have offered to sell my 10 and 45.

    Have been thru pistols in .40, .45 Auto, .45GAP, 10mm Auto, 357SIG, and a wimpy 9mm.

    Also have a few-too-many rifles.

How do you like the Witness? Has it been reliable?

It's HIGHLY reliable, as in NEVER 'misses a beat'.. Its slightly shorter (front-to-back) grip than other large-frame pistols and the indentation at the top of the rear of the grip both make it easier for me to grip.. Here's another pic.

I had my .243 Remington 700 in a Magpul Hunter stock for a while. Good precision stock for the money, and I really love the DBM, but was missing the Maple stock. I'm kinda old school. I decided to have my cake, and eat it too, so I had the Magpul DBM bottom metal (well, bottom plastic) put in the Maple stock. I'll let my son build up something with the Magpul stock.

    Here's my new EDC gun, a Ruger-57 (pronounced 'five-seven') in 5.7X28.
    2020Oct11_Pistol w Streamlight_1040868_1500w.jpg

This quartet of cartridges has a pair of 5.7X28s flanking a 40S&W and a 6x45 which is nothing more than a 5.56x45 necked up to 6mm.. The 5.7 on the left is the new Speer 40g. GoldDot (my EDC cartridge) while on the right is a practice reload using the Nosler Ballistic Tip 40g. varmint bullet.
    Four cartridges_1500h.jpg
The pistol is a delight to shoot, with excellent handling, ergonomics, and accuracy and also virtually no recoil.

Have sold the 10mm Tanfoglio Witness and one of my S&W M&P full-size 40s.
