Agree with the above posts about the heater core. Remove affected carpeting to rinse/clean off the coolant. Depending upon your location that heater core will be necessary for the winter.

Post some pics as I'm sure some of us have not seen the innards of the CJ5 lately.

Before you yank the core, check the hoses and clamps.

Firetec, if you don't feel like tearing into it, You might want to try a radiator sealant. On my '99 Ram I have a intermittent leak, and I really don't want to pull the dash to fix it.

First job out of the service was doing radiator repair. We loved folks who used stop leak. We had to not only repair the radiator but boil it out (soaking in a hot solution of caustic). Stop leak, instant money maker.

And again do the job right the first time.

What would you think if you bought a new jeep and at the dealer they found a leak and they just put stop leak in it because it’s faster and easier. I’d say no biggie it was faster should be fine.

So why when ur jeep gets a few miles and years you would think why it’s and old jeep just do a fastest and easiest?

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! I’ve always wondered stop leak must be some smart stuff to know to go right to that leak. Idk.
