It's time to replace the springs on my 85 CJ7, the DS front has 5 leaves, PS front has 4, rear have 6 leaves each and are sagging, so I'm ordering new springs, 1" lift shackles, U bolts and plates. I'm getting the springs from General Spring https://www.generalspringkc.com/ Their spring capacities are: Front 640lb, 890lb and 920, Rears 780lb, 785lb, 840lb, 900lb and 985lb. I may add a winch in the future, so I picked the 890lb. for the fronts, but I need advice on the rears. I'll probably pull a light trailer once in a great while, so I'll need enough spring for that, but don't want to bounce off the road either. Any suggestions?

I have been satisfied with BDS springs and Rancho RS9000 adjustable shocks set to the softest settings along with a 9000 lb. Warn winch. Along with that I run 28 p.s.i. in the tires. There are custom springs manufacturers like these guys:https://deaverspring.com/, who have a very good reputation.

Decided to put 32 x 11.00's on , so I ended up ordering a Made in USA, Ruff Country 2.5 lift # 4271k. I found a smokin' deal at SDtrucksprings.com. $638.00 complete kit with hydro shocks & boots and FREE UPS shipping. I'll post pictures next month when the new wheels and tires arrive.

Unless you're really concerned with load capacity, and I'm talking on a regular daily basis, I'd go soft, even in the front. That's me, I want ride quality. I'm doing a frame up rebuild at the moment, and I went with YJ springs.

Hello my name is Shane . I have a 1977 Cj5 with a 304 and going to put a t176 in it . This is my first build . The suspension seems simple enough but I want to raise it . Have you allready finished your set up with the yj springs?

My springs are on, but I can't tell you how they ride. The rebuild is going very slow, and right now I'm doing the front axle... rear to follow... and so on. It may not be running under it's own power for another two years or so. I'm confident they'll ride better than CJ springs.

Only once I recall seeing an soa front axle setup made by an automobile manufacturer and that was on a Jeep military version called the M38A1 around 1961 built by Willys. There are aftermarket manufacturers that do build custom springs for an soa since the spring works differently in that position. I would suggest talking to these guys for accurate information: https://deaverspring.com/
