Could an all-points bulletin be sent to people using this site -- particularly those answering a thread -- that if they use acronyms (RTV, CCV, etc.) that they also provide, in parenthesis, what those stand for. There is a presumption by those answering that everyone in the Jeepworld knows exactly what all of those mean . . . and that is not the case . . . so it's frustrating to try to decipher what could be helpful. Many thanks.

I get what you are saying and as far as parts or systems of the vehicle I would agree..
But as far as RTV is concerned I am not sure referencing Room Temperature Vulcanizing Silicone would make it really anymore clear and what's even better is that you get better Google shopping results by searching for RTV than you do by Room Temperature Vulcanizing Silicone.
Search RTV and you get the smaller tubes associated with automotive projects that are commonly found at auto parts stores.
Search Room Temperature Vulcanizing Silicone and you get a lot of large industrial tubes (like tubes of caulk).
I can just see someone with a big caulk gun full of RTV to do a thermostat housing.

Want to know what worse than automotive acronyms?
    Military and ham radio. o_O

Yeah. Thanks for the responses. Guess I'm better off with less information when it comes to this automotive business (go hire the expert, eh?). Per the military's SNAFU-driven culture, my son-in-law gets to carry that load . . . but fortunately he has a very sneaky sense of humor that enables him to navigate through that whole morass. (And we'll leave that last word alone, OK?)

    Again, thanks y'all!

Many forms of transportation can get you there, but those that are more capable are preferred.
