Feb 2020 leased a 2020 grand Cherokee Laredo . Last month started to hear a whine in cabin. Most noticeable at idle. Seems to be loudest behind drivers seat. I believe this is the fuel pump. Why because it is the same approximate noise that the fuel pump makes when starting the ignition system without foot on brake. Has anybody experienced this problem. I have a case # with Chrysler but have not yet taken in for Rep fr. Chrysler to check. I have already taken vehicle to dealer mechanic. He said that he hears sound but suggested to wait until its louder before replacing.

The best mechanic to tackle this mystery is the FCA dealer. I agree with the dealer mechanic and just get it in writing that it has been reported.

I do have issue documented two ways. Since GC is under warranty I will let manufacture warranty process happen. Hope this issue will be fixed. If not it will be a great disappointment.
. A $40000 vehicle should not have a fuel pump cabin noise at idle as such. I would ask that if anybody has a 2020 Grand Cherokee 3.6l loredo to listen for a humming or whining sound in cabin at idle.

    paid cash for it.
Hi Medfi, I’m sympathetic to your plight here. It’s fine for the dealer mechanic to suggest that you wait to make his job easier, as long as it doesn’t fail suddenly on a dark night, in the rain, on a deserted highway far from home. I wouldn’t want that to happen to me, anyway. Put a little more pressure on these guys to fix it. At the very least, if they can’t diagnose it, they could replace the unit, and see if it fixes the problem, and put the old part back on if it turns out to be ok. They have a whole parts department at their disposal to experiment with.
