Today I bought my first Jeep! Very happy with it! I went with the 2009. 89,000 miles. Standard transmission. 6 Speed. My husband LOVES the standard transmission. Just as I do! We drove on The highway to get home. Kinda hard to find the 6th gear. But we found it! Yay!! I felt bad giving up my Nissan Frontier.... but we are ready for something new. We have had trips planned for sometime that require 4wd. Very excited! I will have it serviced before our first trip to the beach this coming week. Have them look everything over and double...triple check everything over. My husband is already looking at knick khacks. Or whatever you want to call them, for the jeep.
I have a homemade tiny travel trailer that I decided to paint the color of the new Jeep to match!!! Can't wait! Totally excited!!!! Its so nice to have a standard transmission again!!!

Nice job finding an '09 with 89K. Looking forward to hearing and seeing pics of your adventures.

One of the major reasons my wife and I bought our 12 JK was because we could still get a manual transmission. Fast forward a decade and I can say without any hesitation, the auto actually works a lot better for any serious off road. The No Significant Gear 370 just doesn't have a low enough first gear to even work with the Rubicon version's 4:1 transfercase and its stock 4.10 gears. The Rubicon's 76:1 crawl ratio sounds impressive but it comes up really short with the given engine/transmission/transfercase/axle ratio. Case in point, my 67 year old CJ 3B with it's 381 sbc and a not very impressive crawl ratio of about 33:1 actually worked better in the rocks than the decade old JKUR. Something about a Chevy engine that actually produced torque at 500 rpm and the other pretty much torqueless until 2000 rpm. But probably not an issue if your trails don't include a bit of rock crawling.
