After a 4" lift? What is the rim and tire size recommended with a 4" lift or is it personal preference?

Personal preference. 35" tall tires would probably fill the wheel well best with a 4" lift.

Do I have to do any recalibration or any adjustments with a 4" lift?

I like the look of 37s best on a 4 inch lift. It is all about preference. If you remove the factory fenders you can get up to 40s with a 4 inch lift.

My dads jk has an AEV 3.5" lift with 35s and it looks awesome looks like how it should have come stock.

Once you pick the upgraded wheel+tire size to best match the 4" lift you should recalibrate for best results. For example the speedometer will be off and worse if AT, the shift points/driveability will be affected. Consider the Pro Cal or Flash Cal etc

I am really ignorant with this shit and need to learn more. My buddy just told me to do a suspension lift vs. a body lift for handling. Do you agree?

IMO go for the complete lift suspension kit that way all the parts will be designed to work together. Anytime one raises the COG its best to have a proven and tested lift system unless you're into experimenting. The lifts your considering will need some form of geometry correction and some kits include them.
