Horn/Cruise issue.

I got a notice from Chrysler about the clockspring issue. I wasn't having any problem with it. But two weeks later, my horn went out.

I have a 2013 Wrangler with 25000 miles. Took it into the shop and at first they said it was the horn switch, and it would cost $230. Five minutes later, the service manager came back and said that it wasn't the horn switch, but the cruise control switch, and that the repair cost would be about the same. Also told me that the horn and cruise were connected. I've never heard of this. I asked the dealership about this and they said that the clockspring had nothing to do with my problem. They said the cruise control switch was the issue.

Here's what my service order says: "Customer states that the horn is not blowing. Found code B2339 horn switch stuck. Active actuate the horns through diagnostics. Found that the cruise control switch is bad. Horn will blow when opening the door. Replaced the cruise control switch."
Not even sure what he was trying to say, but it still doesnt make sense to me.


Then I got this back from Chrysler:

I called the Dutch Miller Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership and spoke
with Shelly in services. Shelly informed that the B2339 code is related
to the issue with the horn. Shelly further informed me that on your
vehicle steering wheel the cruise control and horn are linked to each
other.

For any further information required I recommend to kindly contact
Shelly directly or the Dealer service department directly as they are
the best resource for addressing your concern.

So... does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks!

 

$230? Is it not still under warranty?

 

No. My warranty expired a year ago.

 

Wow. 2017 jeeps come with a 5yr 30k mile warranty. Thought yours might be the same. Hey no warranty, time to do some major mods.

 

Yea... a 3 year warranty is so 1975. I thought that a little chincy when I bought the car.
