Death Wobble...

    I think I experienced my first death wobble... The jeep has always been a little shaky when I drive around 60-65 mph but this time I was going about 30-45 and it got very shaky to the point where I had to slow down a lot. can anyone help me solve what it could be and the parts I need to fix it?

    Bad steering stabilizer, bent track bar, maybe a weight or two fell off one of your tires and now is horribly out of balance. I'm sure @OFFGRID will chime in with his thoughts.

    Sure. If you replace nothing else, replace the track bar. The whole thing, don't settle for new inserts. They don't work. You should also replace the ball joints and tie rod ends. These wear out first then cause the track bar to wear causing death wobble.

    99 TJ locked/locked, 4" lift, 1" body lift, skids and more skids, geared 4.88s, super shorty sye, all Rockmen adjustable arms, D44 rear, D30 front, all disc brakes, AX15 manual 5 speed, waren winch, currie tie rod, a drop down tail gate and heater relays upgrade to keep my heater switch from melting lol, and lots more stuff. 79 CJ5 with 4.0 swap
    Just fixed mine the other day. had a shake at 40mph. Lifted the front of the Jeep and grabbed a front tire at 12 and 6. It wiggled, bad ball joints. Put them in and drives like a caddy now. From that point if it wasnt bad ball joints I would have someone hop in the Jeep and turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch for any movement that shouldnt be there. Also look for shiny steel around the track bar bolt, it will egg out from vibration if you have had the vibes for awhile. Track bar, ball joints then the junky factory bushings in the arms go bad in that order with the latter being the least. If none of them the list goes on. lol
