so i want to install 4 circular fog lights onto the roof of my jeep. i was wondering if i could tap into the stock fog lights from the bumper and wire them there so that all the fog lights can be turned on from one switch and not have separate switches. i already have 2 fog lights from the grill guard tapped into the stock fog lights so could i wire in 4 more?

If you use a Relay, you shouldn't have an issue, but if you wore right into the circuit you may burn thebwires, or blow fuses.

Review the amp draw per light so as not to exceed max rating of oem setup. LED-type auxiliary lighting have low amp draws. Not too sure about fog lights on the roof.

Great. I have fuses connected to the wires on both of my front fog lights. How would the relays be connected?

Also i didnt use a relay for the front fog lights. I just connected a fuse to each light. Would i be able to do the same with the 4 roof mounted lights?

If it exceeds the current draw of the circuit, it will just blow fuses. Find out how much current, or wattage the circuit will take, then find out how much power you need to supply to the lights.

Each light is 27W. I cant seem to find the wattage for the circuit.

Ok....I think the fog light circuit is good for 10 amps draw. At 27 watts, that's about 2 amps each, so about 8 amps for the 4. Plus what you already have hooked up, sounds like your over the limit for that circuit.

FWIW, A friend told me years ago, to try and stay around 50% of the circuits rated amps. I kinda thought this was a little on the "too Conservative" side, and focused more on proper connections. All worked well, until I hit a switch, and magic smoke came out from under the dash. Ever since, Ive learned to tame the magic smoke with a relay, and dedicated power run.

Makes sense. Ill just have a separate wiring harness for the roof lights.

Use the fog circuit as the "trigger" for the lights, but run the power, and relay so you can keep the power isolated from the fog circuit. That way you still can have the 1 switch to turn them on.

How would that circuit diagram look like? Where would the relay be?

The White Wire would be connected to your Fog Light circuit:

Wire the White wire to the Fog Light + Wire, then connect the White and Green together, with the Green wire plugging into the "86" Terminal on the Relay. Wire the "30" connection on the relay to the + on the Battery, and the "85" to a ground. Then, run a power wire to the lights, connected to the "87" connection on the relay. Run the ground wire on the lights to any ground. This way, when you turn on the fog lights, the lights are power directly from the battery, and not pulling the load off the fog circuit.

I'll try to look for a pre wired set up in my box-O-stuff. If I find one, I'll send it to ya.

So basically the roof lights will have its own circuit and will only be connect to the switch by the white wire?

Yes. The fog light switch will still operate them.
