2001 Cherokee over heating at idle and low speeds HELP!

Ok guys I'm lost on what direction to go here. I've got a 2001 Cherokee and at low speeds and idle the jeep runs hot 220 plus if I let it idle don't start driving it. it does it without the a.c. on but does it much faster with it on. when it gets this warm it pushes the coolant into the over flow and eventually leaks, if I shut it off at 220 it pukes coolant out the over flow real bad

I be tried everything I could think of I have flushed the system twice and both times it has flowed good and no trash came out, I've replaced the following parts also.

I put a 3 core aluminum radiator in it
new fan clutch
new electric fan
new fa n shroud
2 new water pumps
new 180 degree thermostat
all new coolant hoses
moved the catylictic convertor to the back instead of in the engine bay

none of the above has fixed my problem and I don't know what else to do at this point, it's only at idkd and low speeds. driving down the road pulling mountains ect it stays at 180, no milk in my oil or water and no abnormal pressure build up in my cooling system. I'm at a loss anDrd don't know what to do it's my old lady's daily currently and I can't continue having this issue with my children in the vehicle any help would be greatly appreciated

 

I had a problem with my old Silverado, year 2000. Cheap fix. I replaced the coolant resevoir cap. The seal got old and brittle and did not work properly. You may have tried that, but I did not see it in your list.

 

yea I did replace it, unfortunately it was 12 more dollars down the tube lol

I had the same problem with my 2000 XJ. I'd shut it down at 180, start it back up, and temp had jumped to 220 and it would miss fire. I tried every thing. Replaced most of the same parts you did. And I never cured the issue either. I just learned to live with it. Good luck with it.

 

Double check the surpentine belt routing. Wouldn't want the water flowing backwards. Water going to the overflow is normal as water heats it expands, and as it cools it will pull it back into the radiator. You have done everything I would do. Only other thing is I think you have 2 temp sensors. 1 for your gage and one for your computer telling it when to turn on the electric fan. Either or both might be going bad or they both might be fine. Do you have a dealer technical service manual? These are usually very good about trouble shooting and steps to take in finding a solution. Well worth the $100+/-. I have 1 for early CJs and 1 for YJs. I bought them both on eBay.

 

Have you been able to fix this yet. My buddy has a 85 CJ-7 and appearantly some of the newer water pumps bolt right on, but they are reverse rotation for serpentine belts. the standard pully fits right on it so he was having the same issue as you are having now his would over eat at low RPMs because the pump fins were rotating backwards and therefore not as efficient. Maybe yours is doing the same.
