Questions about a 2013 Wrangler I'm about to purchase...

Hello all.
I am new to Jeeps in general and new to forums also so please be patient with me as I ask some questions.

I am about to purchase a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I am planning mods in the very near future, (in the next couple weeks). So here are some questions.....

I want to put on some 33" tires/wheels, What size wheels should go on the Jeep?
Does the front differential have locks? Do I have to buy something to make the front lock up?
Does anyone have suggestions on where to buy wheels, fender flares, and other items to trick the Jeep out?

Forgot maybe I should give you some background info on me and the way I will use the Jeep.
I am retired from owning my own business for more than 40 years. I spend my winters in Arizona. I plan to pull the Jeep behind my Motor Home.
I want to make it a reasonably mild build. 33" or so tires, fender flares, front and maybe rear bumpers, winch and that s about it. I want to do some intermediate rock crawling and desert running.

Any suggestions.

Wheels are all in the eye of the beholder. I like 17 x 9s. Unless you have a rubicon or somebody else installed a locker you don't have one. I usually get my wheels and tires at discount tire. Great warranties, and they will match any price you find online.

 

You said you spend your winters in Arizona? Where do you go for winter? If you are ever in Utah I would check out Moab 4x4 Outpost (M4O) or Sandhills off-road shop. Both are owned by Steve Nantz, a big name in rockcrawler building. Take your Jeep to him tell him what you want and he has great prices.

 

What part of Arizona? If in the Phoenix area I can suggest a shop or two.

As you can see. Have some awesome members here that love to help.

Just a little input as to what I'm running. Which sounds like what your looking to do. I have a 2 inch spacer lift which is spacers between the coil spring and frame. A very basic lift. I have 305 65s on 17 x 9 wheels. You can run this set up without a lift. But the lift gives it a nice stance. If you'd like to see a pic. LMK. Happy to help.

2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sport, not my first choice in color (white) but it is what I can afford.
Tires and wheels first then some attitude mods from there.

Because I travel in a Motor Home I am all over Arizona at my pleasure but I spend January and February in the North Phoenix area. Near Carefree and Anthem.

RC Jeep, I would love to hear some suggestions on what shops are in the area. No matter my age I have always been a kid in a candy store!

My favorite shop is @Sierra Expeditions on broadway and 101. Will the owner is very knowledgeable!
Second shop does great work but pricey and to be honest just aren't very nice, but great work,SDHQ on Elliot and Gilbert.

 

Welcome! Quadratec, Extreme Terr and Northridge are some examples of online venders I have purchased parts and accessories. There are specials or deals every now and then. The white color might actually work out good for you in the hot Arizona area. As mentioned earlier 17x9 is the go-to size for most JK builds. Sounds like you have interest in lockers....we had a nice traction thread going on last month that was very informative.

 

Personally. I'm a huge fan of Quadratec for numerous reasons. Their Customer Service is the best bar none. Their shipping. Order before 4pm, it's out the door that day. They are the best I've ever worked with when it comes to knowing their products. Just to name a few. Plus, they have sent me replacement products that....Ummm. Blew off my Jeep, for free. Yes, but it was due to poor install attachments. Which I upgraded myself.

As far as a white Jeep. As aggrex stated. Could be your best friend in AZ heat. When I was looking for my JK. I was looking at purchasing a white jeep. I just feel white and black looks really cool. ( RC Jeep) I had numerous ideas for upgrades in black. But I'm happy with the rig I ended up with.

 

Northridge4x4 does free shipping on orders over $70. Saved me $$$ in shipping on bumpers and such.
