Hard start

    Ok guys I need some help I recently replaced the skid plate for fuel tank on my TJ hah the tank off and fuel pump out and put a new strainer on the pump put it all back together and now it doesn't start like it did before it turns over a few times before it starts the first time but if you shut it off it will start right up. It's like it's loosing its prim. What do you think?

    The symptoms stated are typical signs that the fuel pump may be failing. Intermittent starting, age and hesitation to start....check the fuel pressure

    Is it hard to start all the time or only if it has been sitting?

    Before you start it cycle the key a couple of times to prime the pump. If it starts better the pump isn't holding pressure in the lines. As Aggrex said, check the fuel rail pressure. If you build pressure in the system and then let it sit you will likely see the fuel pressure drop the longer it sits.

    Excuse me if I have already sent this no it only starts hard after it has been sitting
