Wagoneer won't restart after driving for a while

    1959 Willys Wagon, 300 ci Buick engine 4wd
    My '83 Jeep Wagoneer will not restart after driving for a while in traffic. Will crank over but will not fire. Sometimes starter fluid helps. Can't tell if this is vapor lock, poor gas flow, overheated engine, etc. Suggestions.

    Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
    Will crank, but not start is either fuel, air, or spark. I'm going to rule out air because I'll assume you do regular maintenance and the filter is clean. That leaves fuel or spark.

    You said sometimes starter fluid helps. Right now using starter fluid will it start and then die, or will it just keep turning over. If it starts and dies I will guess it is an inline fuel filter that is clogged or a bad fuel pump.

    If using starter fluid and it won't start at all and just keeps turning over I will guess it is somewhere in the ignition system. Maybe the coil. Check the coil by removing a plug wire from from a plug and holding it close to a ground like the engine block and see if it arcs when someone is cranking the motor. I would hold it with a set of plug wire pliers or rubber handled pliers to prevent yourself from being shocked in the even of a frayed wire. Check your connections on the coil and make sure they are making good contact.

    I got a new ignition module from PartsGeek and that fixed the problem.
