    Hi there,

    I just bought this JK in Mexico. Although I was aware it was not a Rubicon when I purchased it by the paperwork I was curious as to how one would spot a Rubicon at a cursory glance. Or does one need to look at axels etc?

    Welcome! Nice Jeep! Differences are more than sticker deep. Visually, Sliders, and shocks are obvious clues. Less obvious are the Rubi's different spring rates, Front Dana 44 axel, and 4:1 transfer case. Along with minor interior features like Embroidered seat backs,

    For all practical purposes, unless you want to go over a bunch of hardware differences (Chris lists these nicely above), just look for the AXLE LOCK and SWAY BAR buttons.

    In 07 to 11 JK / JKU models, these buttons are in the center console (along with a couple others) under the environmental controls. On the 2012 and newer they are on the left side of the steering column as in this photo (below). If it does not have these buttons, it IS NOT a JK Rubicon.
