Largest tires on an 01 Grand Cherokee?

    I'm currently trying to figure out what the biggest tire is I can fit on my 01 grand Cherokee. Looking at 285s but I don't know if they will fit?

    Hey Bashhelton65. Welcome to the site. Based on your a avatar listing. Can I assume you don't have a lift installed? I'm not familiar with 01 GCs. But 285s are basically a 33 x 11 inch tire. Without a lift. I beleive you may have rubbing issues.

    Hang tight. I'm sure a member or 2 with more experience will chime in. Seems like most of our people are suffering from Turkey hangovers. Lolll. o_O.

    Welcome! Without a proper lift your options are limited. OEM tires are 245/70-16 or 235/65-17

    285 is the width of the tire. 285= 285mm wide divide by 10 = 28.5cm divide by 2.54= 11.22 inches wide. What are the rest of the numbers? For example: 285/75r16 This is Metric for 33x11.00x16.

    I will post a thread on how to get the correct measurements on a tire in what I call metric/European form soon.

    Discount tire says the largest tire on a factory rim on a stock 2001 GC that you can run is 265/75r16. This is appoximately 32x10.50x16. I don't know if 2 inches would be enough to get you to 33s or 285/75r16s.
