    Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
    I have stayed out of this conversation just because there are too many right answers based on tire set up and preference. My general rule of thumb for any and all offroad tire pressure set ups is to start at 12 psi and go up or down from there. I have never gone more that 12 psi offroad. For me 12 has always been good, but I never ran 40s until recently and found that 10psi was good, and I am considiering 8psi on my next outing. I was not getting enough squish on the rocks for my taste.

    Do you have beadlocks?

    I think 12 is a sweet spot good for all around wheeling and would like to run it all of the time sand or not. But I'm afraid without beadlocks.

    No beadlocks on my CJ. 37x14.50x15s. I run 12 psi all day long and air down to 8 on the trails. I do have beadlocks on my JK though I know many who run as low as 8 without beadlocks fine, but again we are all running 37-40s. Makes a difference. On 33s or 35s I wouldn't hesitate running 12 offroad with or without beadlocks.

    Will give 12 a go next time.

    Coming from 33s I also had to be careful not to lose too much clearance.

    Now with 35s, a lift, and some good advice I'm looking forward to wheeling with 12# and getting that extra traction.

    A bit out of my budget right now. Plus there are no places that will work on them here.

    Will probly wait until I get 37s or bigger and run 12# for now.

    Usually only off road shops will mount and balance a bead lock. Discount tire won't touch them. Only down side is to remember to retorque the beads every so often.

    A little late to the party, but I roll on the beaches out here in Corolla NC and have been out like 4 times since I got the Jeep and I have yet to air down....no issues what so ever.

    You might not get stuck but it's harsher and will ware out your suspension quickly.

    I was kinda thinkin the same thing. Soft sand?? I am no expert as to the damage adverse driving conditions can have on your Jeep. Unless you like to 60 mph over a rock covered trail. But sand?? I'm curious.

    Yeah, nothing is gonna wear out. Maybe bushings and such, from sand ingress, but that doesn't have anything to do with tire PSI. The biggest wear components in a suspension are bushings, and shocks. Shocks can get old and the oil can degrade from use, and bushings can age, or wear out from dirt/mud/sand, but none of that is affected by tire psi.....that I'm aware of.

    I have ventured out on the sand years ago without airing down in my light-weight YJ (compared to JK) and it scampered effortlessly in the sandy dunes but airing down had less wheel spin at low speeds...perhaps that's the increased wear we're talking about.
    Disappointingly the trans gauge in my GC lit up as the AT overheated before the fun began in the hot sands :(

    Awesome point @chris4x4 . Was really curious about that. I have my permit to hit the beaches here in NJ. But between work, jeep mods, and now being umm. On meds. Haven't hit the beach yet. But I have till May 31 to. So any advice given, since I've haven't run sand yet, is greatly appreciated. Airing down. Gonna talk to guys that are wheelin and fishing there. If they do. And go from there. The beaches in NJ are not the same in FLA, or CA, or NC. That much.....I do know.

    Because at higher psi the tire is transferring all the impact to the suspension rather than absorbing most of it. Unless you're driving at crawl speeds.

    I have some other priorities. But I have plans on hitting the beach soon. I'll post up my thoughts, and experiences being aired down to approx. 15 psi. And not, at 33 psi. Just not sure at this point. To much shit goin on right now.
