My Jeep has been pouring out water under the passenger side dash. It’s a steady drip but when I’m driving and accelerate or turn it will pour out a lot at once. The water is accumulating somewhere and pouring out with movement. I know the Evap core is back there and a lot of people are saying it could be the drain. Which I agree is a terrible design. But because of where it’s coming from and the amount of water I’m leaning towards the evaporator. Any info or ideas is appreciated please help! It leaves huge puddles that I keep having to use a vacuum to get out.

Welcome to the site! What conditions are happening when this happens? Rain? Sun? Driving thru puddles? Running the ac?

Check the drain tube exiting the firewall to make sure it isn't blocked, or plugged. Then, use some sealant, and seal the area where the tube comes out of the firewall. I had the same issue with my dodge Dakota, and this method fixed it.

the drain tube on the cherokees is literally a 1/2 inch tube sticking out the firewall about an inch long. With the v8 I have no way of getting to it. If it was the evaporator it would leak more like I’m describing right?

Mine leaked exactly how you are describing. It's hard to get to, but that was the fix that worked. What's leaking is the condensation. It might be leaking from the drip pan.

Ok we’re you able to get to it from the bottom of the vehicle? I’m thinking about getting a hose and attaching it to the drain with a 90 then it can’t go back in.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. FWIW, I used a nitrile glove when I applied the sealant, and just gobbed the stuff around the hose. Some of it I did blind, as its a really tight spot, but it stopped it. I cant remember the stuff I used, but it was the clear stuff used for bathrooms. :anonymous:

Most home centers stock tubes of good silicone sealant for under $6 some clear some white/black. Some tubes may be resealable for the next job. Clean up the area before applying for best results.
