I was rear ended. The frame is cracked, the rear axle needs replacement, the rear shocks are shot. It’s not even a year old. Should I allow them to fix it, or insist on a replace. Thanks, this is my first post.

The custom paint job is that ‘duraliner’ look and feel.

I think Bob meant for you to post up some pictures of the damage.

Welcome! The Jeep was a beauty and glad to hear your okay. The accident must have been pretty severe to crack the frame and damage the axle. Insurance will have to decide whether the cost of repair if repairable will exceed the residual value. Hope things work in your favor.

I don’t have pictures of the damage. It was not drivable after the accident. The first body shop said the cracked frame was too much for them to handle. It was then taken to a CDJ dealer.

JK frames are cheap, don't be surprised if it's not totaled.
I went through the same thing this summer, they never got it fixed right. I dumped it and ordered an '18.

The other insurance company has taken full responsibility. The Jeep isn’t even 10 months old. I can’t even imagine what the diminished value is - $10,000, $20,000 ?!?!?!?

Welcome to the forum GlennL. That sucks dude.
I'd go where ever the jeep is. And just start taking mods off it before some one else does. If the insurance company totals it. There s very good chance, unless you saved receipts, even then you won't get fully reimbursed. And they won't pay you for after market equipment installed. Good luck with it Glenn.

Welcome! It wont be that bad. And the insurance may reimburse for diminished value. A decent shop should be able to fix it like new. Cool thing about the Jeep, is that its a simple Tub on Frame vehicle, with a fairly basic suspension. If a frame was a big deal, this one would have been declared "totaled" without being in an accident, and only having 17 miles on it:

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your jeep. I agree with JKBob25 don't let the jeep sit long. Retrieve your aftermarket parts. I had a 72 Challenger 340 RT once and it was hit and the next day I got to the car had someone stole the hood and headlight assy. Good luck

If the frame is damaged have them total it and replace it.

Another option can be to offer to buy it cheap after they total it.

Guy I work with did exactly that. They totaled his car, gave him X amount of cash for it. And he bought it super cheap. And had it fix with what they totaled for and a couple more bucks. Don't know if it was worth it or not. Just sayin it is possible.
