Looks like good HD parts for replacing worn OEM steering parts. Based on your big lift>bigger tires>off-roading posts I would think you want more substantial steering components. It's an endless drain on the wallet but when dealing with jeepin if ya want to play you got to pay.

    Amen brother.

I feel like a drug addiction would have been much cheaper.

It's like you do one thing and that leads to one more thing, which leads to another and another and another and...

Looking for a front Dana 44 right now if anyone knows of one?

Just so you know the rubicon Dana 44 and the Dana 30 share all the same components. The only difference is the carrier and R&P are roughly 3/4in bigger. All the parts are interchangeable, axle shafts, ujoints, steering knuckles, hubs etc. For me I'm not sure it would be worth the expense to bump up to a factory Dana 44. Better to get a nice set of Chomo axles which you will do anyway with the 44 I bet. Look into Revolution Gear and Axle a new company started by the engineers of the bankrupt Superior gear and axle. I agree with aggrex on the steering Buy once cry once. Replace only after bent or broken though is my opinion. Good luck and great looking jeep. Red and Black has always been one of my favorite color combinations.

I keep hearing not to touch the Dana 30 because they break anyway. But you're the second person to say exactly what you stated. This comment came at the right time as i was about to rent a truck and take a 12 hour drive to pick one up. Back to the damn drawing boards with this jeep.

What about the elocker tho? That's a perk the stock Rubicon has. Plus the stock casing should work with 4:88. An elocker alone is 1k so 2k for a stock bolt on axle doesn't sound too bad. I would just have to swap the 4:10s to 4:88s.

Yea I was just thinking about that and thought I'd get the steering kit now and take with to Moab in case crap hits the fan.

Thanks! To be honest red was not my go to color. But in the used car flavor it's difficult to pick n choose a color. The red has grown on me tho especially now with the black wheels.

How was your trip to Moab?

I really like the Eaton Elocker (eaton now owns Detroit lockers) I have one in my CJ, and my friend has them front and rear in his JK. No problems. They run about $850. This would be aa good time to regear. The Dana 30 should handle 4.88 and 37s fine. I ran 4.56 and 37s for a while with no issues. My thoughts would be to run 4.56s with up to 37s and find a used rubicon Tcase because they have a 4:1 low gear. It bolts right in. Since you have to pull all of it apart to regear and lock it you might as well get the G2 chromo or Revolution Gear chromo axles. To do it all the labor will be the same as if you only did one of the items, because you have to break it all the way down and reshim it anyway. They labor should be around $500-600 for the front axle. and $400 for the back. You might look into some local shops building you a superduty Dana 60 and see what the cost is on that. Everything in it that is stock will stay except for the locker and regear. You might come out not too much more expensive than buying a 44 and regearing it + $800 for chromos and such.

Can you elaborate on the tcase low gear, please?

My flashPaq tuner has a setting for that, as well as a setting for gear ratio, but superchips was unable to explain the difference when I called.

They said gear ratio and tcase low gear are the same thing.

The Tcase in your jeep has a Hi and Low gear. The High gear is 1:1 for normal everyday driving, meaning the for every input shaft rotation there is an output shaft rotation The Low gear is I believe 2.72:1 which means for every rotation of the input shaft the output shaft rotates 2.72 times around. The Rubicon has a 4:1 Low gear! If you decide to do the rubicon swap do some homework. I believe all 2012 and up transfer cases are transmission specific, meaning if you have a standard transmission the donor Tcase must come from another standard jeep and same for the automatics. Something to do with the changeover to new computers in 2012. All 2008-2011 are interchangeable.
