2018 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with steel bumpers, can I tow this Jeep with a Blue OX tow bar using D-Rings? Is it better to install a base plate?

Welcome to the site! Are you asking to tow it "Dingy" style?

I'm not all that familiar with Dingy towing, but we have a few knowledgeable folks on here that should be popping in soon.

I have not used the D-ring style for towing. I would thing that if your Drings have the same diameter as the Blue Ox Drings then it would be okay to use them. I have only used this tow bar and was very happy with it: . I also used the magnetic tail lights on my rear steel tube fenders, and they worked well too: I will say that I generally use a trailer to tow.

Thanks for all the comments, advice and welcomes. Seems I will go with a Blue Ox baseplate and towing package. F85D630D-1563-4056-8941-DB39B157C305.jpg

No modes planned other than adding the Blue Ox tow package. If it were up to my two sons I would be adding a 4 inch left, winch kit, bigger tires .... At my age, I would look ridiculous tooling around in such a vehicle.

At your age....ahh.....Come on. Lol. Simple 2 inch lift with 33s would look nice. Lol. But I really like how it sits right now. Nice Rubi.

I will attach a couple Live Photo’s, just picked up the Jeep tonight. The Rubicon comes with a factory 2 inch lift and 33 tires.

Looking at some different tow bars for towing Jeep behind my RV. Curt has the cheapest for $100, Blue Ox up to $1200. Looking for real world experience. The expensive swivel type have the receiver connection but with the ball hitch type you get swivel from the ball so bars are square tube. Either way I need the D ring adapters which go from $40 to $250. Trying to spend the least amount for something decent. Any suggestions welcome.

Tow a 2018 JL Sport with BlueOx baseplate and Airforce One Braking system. Tows great, no issues, easy attach and detach.

I think that means all 4 wheels on the ground like a dingy behind a big boat
