OK. It died with no warning going down then road. Towed it home. Was throwing code for crank shaft position sensor. Changed that (whole lot of fun) and the fuel filter.(I do hear pump when I turn key on. After sensor was changed code isn't popping up. Still won't fire up. Just rolls over.. Any ideas?

Can you check and see if it has any stored codes? Same thing happened to me in my Honda, and I had to clear everything out before it would start.

When you replaced it, did you disconnect the battery?

Sorry. Can't help here. But interested what your fix ends up being.
These vehicles these days. Turn key 3 times this way, once that way. Get out and jump up and down 4 times while touching your toes. I mean really. Come on. Just give us a simple fix Chrysler/ Jeep. Hit the gas pedal 3 times was a great fix. So what happened????

OK. So my buddy that knows more then me stopped over. We (he) determine that the coil pack is shot along with the plugs.. I've had it 2 years ands haven't changed them.. (I know my fault) so getting new coil pack tomorrow if they stock it. If not. Express ordering it. Plus new plugs.

Side note.. New crank position sensor plug wouldn't click and lock in.. Upon comparison with old plug, the new one, the actual part that slides into the harness seems to be molded just an little bit longer then the old one. So it won't lock in. My Buddy says it could be the wrong one because my jeep Vin says 03. But the birth date is 12-02, and the connectors my be sightly different. Will update when I have an answer

Also.. Been having cooling issue. Changed stat. Developed leak at stat. And still had cooling issue. Was told to put red rtv instead of paper gasket and my radiator cap is junk. System won't build pressure. Which caused engine to heat up. I never let it overheat, but we found a crack in the coil pack and plugs gap is huge. New parts on the way..

Thanks for the update. The coil pack + plugs are probably needed maintenance items that compounded your problems after the CPS replacement. Somehow I silently suspected the replacement CPS as it turned out not locking in. With your ongoing issues with replacement parts my opinion is to select a more reliable source for the coil, plugs, CPS, thermostat etc as you have the skills to make the repairs.

In my experience parts store crank position sensors are not what they should be, I have installed 2 or 3 of them to get one that the Jeep likes. I will almost always go OEM to source Jeep crank position sensors.
If that does not work check the camshaft position sensor. It will give you the same side effects.

OK. So I've replaced the fuel filter, crank shaft position sensor, thermostat (few weeks ago but it leaks) thermostat housing with red rtv, coolant temp sensor, coil pack, spark plugs, and radiator cap, and piut dry gas in it. Rolls but won't start Still getting code p1389 with scanner. Can't get it to run its own check using the ignition..

*went to diff store for CPS and the connector clicked into the harness finally

Last time I came across that code, it was the 30 Amp fuse. I would start there.

Many folks online say its the ASD, but Ive had the same code with the 30 Amp fuse blown. I'm suggesting it simply as an easy place to start. I prefer to start with the small things, then work up as needed. Save a little time and money in many cases.

New relay. Same. Fuses look good. Didn't take them out and check was getting late and cold. Tonight it was raining so I took the night off. Got a bunch of things to check and try. I will update with any developments.

Thank you everyone for your help. Its our only vehicle, its killing us having it down.. and we are draining our tax refund trying to fix it.. My daughter asks every morning "does Jeep Jeep work?" Because she knows I've been staying up late working on it..

Question. Should I erase the code after putting new ASD relay in? Or will it clear on its own..
