I just bought a used 2016 Compass Sport SE. I noticed that the drivers side mirror has streaking from what looks like water.
    It does not wash off.
I know that the side mirrors are heated.
I am going to ask the dealer to replace it, since I have an extended warrantee, bumper to bumper.
Any ideas of what caused it?
    Thanks

Welcome aboard! Can you post pictures so we can get a better idea of the streaks?

Don't be surprised if the "extended warranty" doesn't cover it.
Bumper to Bumper is such a misleading term.
If it's an aftermarket "warranty" the mirror itself is not a mechanical item and may not be covered.
If it's a Jeep factory extended warranty that mirrors (see what I did there) the factory warranty you might be good to go.....but does Jeep have a factory extended warranty?

Welcome! If the streaks don't wash off then the mirror is delaminating and probably needs to be replaced whether warranty or not. Not too difficult nor expensive. In the mean time.....

Yeah really. @aggrex.....one of your better posts. There's your bumper to bumper "Dealership" warranties.

Sorry @Gurrrfuss. Yeah...we can go a little of the beaten path. Lol. Forgive them.....Every forum has their ummm. Yeah. They are members here. And believe it or not. Very knowledgeable members. You just need to throw them an M&M every now and then. Lol.

Back to your issue with your mirror. If you can post a pic or two. I'm sure we can help.

I took the vehicle to the dealership Service manager, who had the detailer try to scrub the streaks off. That did not work. The theory is that the previous owner sprayed the side view mirror with some mystery chemical.
The issue was declaired a matter of saftey and they ordered the new mirror.

The part, and replacement labor, are going to be FREE!!!!
    .
BTW, I am familiar with Jeep Forums, as I also own an 88' Cherokee Eddie Bauer Limited Edition. We use THAT one for the snow.
    Thank you Folks!

Sweet @Gurrrfuss. Sounds like the service mgr is a good guy. They could have easily turned around and said warranty expired. And charged you for the mirror. Awesome.

Yeah....post up some Jeep Porn. We like pics. Lol.
