I want to swap 4 cylinder out and 1980's in line six into, 1st timer at this. I am looking for better performance while driving on the highway. Currently the four struggles in 5th gear st highway speeds.

Welcome to the site! You might want to consider an engine from a similar year. Looking at your profile, it says you have a 1995 jeep?

There is more to it than just swapping engines. You will need to find a whole driveline: motor, tranny, and Tcase. The tranny mated to the 4 banger will not hold up to the 6 even in normal daily use and therefore nobody makes adapters for them to fit together. I believe the tranny to the 6cyl will not mate up to the 4 cyl Tcase either. I have seen whole drivelines for as low as $1000. Still need to find motor mounts, tranny mounts etc to make it fit.

It sounds like you could really benefit from regearing instead. What size tires are you running and what gear ratio to you have now. If you have 33inch tires you should be running at least 4.56 gears and preferably 4.88 gears to maintain decent power at highway speeds in 5th gear. This will also give you more umph off the line (more low end torque)

Welcome! With some research and information from jeeps.net you may conclude that it's a big job which might explain why some YJs end up traded or modified or upgraded to V8 power as the work involved can be somewhat similar.
