I bought a 95 yj about a year ago, in april the automatic trans went and i had it rebuilt. Since getting it back I have had 2 crank sensors go bad on it. I change the cups and the jeep runs great for about 20 miles then dies and won't restart. I have fuel pressure and good spark the coil cap, wires and plugs are all new and connected right. Could the trans have been messed up causing the problem or am I just unlucky and getting bad position sensors? Any help or ideas would be appritiated.

My thoughts are you have another sensor bad. MAP, O2, temp, and speed sensors. The crank sensor is probably good. Some others on here might be able to tell you how to test them rather than buying and replacing each one.

try checking for codes- its OBD1 so not a a great diagnostic ability - BUT it easy and FREE.

When it will not start- does it have SPARK when cranking?

The CKP/CPS is there any physical damage to sensor?
It is strongly suggested sensors come from jeep only, Aftermarket is problematic esp this sensor.

" I have fuel pressure and good spark the coil"
what is fuel pressure psi? did you check spark aat several plugs?
might want to 'read' a few plugs, wet, dry, black, tan- let us know...

All the plugs have a strong spark, the second sensor I pulled out today was cracked so I'm thinking flex plate, the codes I get are 11, 12 and 21

I haven't the slightest idea on codes. But it looks like your in good hands. Awesome codes readers here. Good luck, and of coarse.......Welcome to the forum.

The cracked CPS - is this a jeep sensor or aftermarket?

The first was a mopar, the second was aftermarket, I put another aftermarket one in and drove it too the shop that did the trans and they are going to pull the trans and figure out what is going on, I'm guessing either the flex plate broke or the cam is moving I'm hoping for the flex plate

this is a CRANK sensor not a cam. The crank having movement is more likely with a manual transmission.
