I bought a GC for my wife to ride around with the baby while I’m stuck with a garbage car and she won’t ever let me use it :,(

so I’m looking into getting my own. i just looked up some of the key differences between the (1999-2004 GRAND CHEROKEE) 4.7L and the 4.7L HO and although there are some major differences in how the engine is desined (stronger) there doesn’t seem to Ben much of a difference in HP. My question is... I know when you turbo charge a car there are other things you have to do to the engine to support the extra pressure such as aftermarket piston rings and such. But my question is, can you turbo charge the 4.7 HO without doing much else to it besides strapping the turbo to it?

You would have to do some fuel upgrades, like new pump, injectors, and management unit. I had a 2004 4.7 in a Dakota. Put cams, new exhaust, and such, and I dynode just under 200 hp to the weels. A friend of mine had the same, and we installed a centrifugal SC on it, and it did better, but the fuel upgrades and ignition timing had to be re worked to get it to run right.

Probably need a MAP sensor as oppose to the MAF sensor. Also I would personally get some performance pistons as the stock ones were not designed with this much power in mind.

Also need some way to control fuel which typically means swapping to a stand alone engine management system. Would also need custom manifolds and a place to put the turbo. You would be better off LS swapping or building a motor.

not easy, or cheap - and I would ask your skill level - as there is NO bolt in.

Get a nice toy, a wrangler, 4.0L, and the customizing is endless your toy for sure..

Need speed - challenger, camaro, mustang,
    Offroad - jeep.
