50/50 or concentrate??

Need anti-freeze which one is better for winter 50/50 or full strength ? Its below the add line! Do I fill it to the fill line or what? Iz not sure. Gets pretty damn cold in central NY.

 

You should never run full straight full strength. Antifreeze does not cool the engine. Water does, but water freezes in the engine ruining it as well as corrodes inside the block. One adds antifreeze to prevent the water from freezing and prevent corrosion. The more antifreeze you add the less ability the mixture has to cool the motor. Engines are designed to run a 50/50 mixture. In extreme cold temps you may need to run more antifreeze than water i.e. Alaska and visa versa. If you are draining your radiator and refilling it is cheaper to by the concentrate and mix yourself. If you are just maintaining the level, 1 gallon of 50/50 mixture will last you a very long time. The answer to your question is 50/50. Unless you are in Alaska or somewhere you will reach -30*F.
