    Hi everyone,

    I just bought my first Jeep. It is a 2007. I am new to Jeeps this one has 247,000 on it. It has been well maintained can anyone give me any suggestions as far as what to look for and how to make sure I get a lot more miles out of it.

    Welcome to the world of jeeps! At 247k your at the upper limits of most vehicles so regular maintenance like oil changes 4-5k, air filter etc will go a long way. Getting axle service would be good idea if never done. Post some pics of the rough tough rider.

    The dealership is going through it and detailing it. They are delivering it Tuesday.

    Detailing will make the JK nice, clean and pretty but check out the frame for rust or prior repairs. Try to gather information or history on the jeep or Carfax report. The 3.8 has a rep for oil loss or usage which can be tough to determine on a test drive. Make sure the trans shifts well through the gears. Steering, alignment, tire wear patterns and vibration issues should be noted. Listen for any strange noises emanating from various sources. ETC...others may chime in on more tips. Dealer may be certifying or offering warranties to consider.

    The dealership I bought it from is a certified Carfax dealership they do most of their business online. The Jeep has had only two owners.

    Welcome to the forum.
    Unfortunately..carfax can be a false security blanket. They only know what's reported. And as we all know. Not all dealerships and repair shops are not straight up. I know first hand.
    As stated. Have a mechanic you trust, give it a going over. 247k...it's been around the block a few times. And chances are. Grandma going to church...May have hit up a trail or two... gettin there. Just sayin.
