Does anyone know what happen to Wells Custom Jeeps in NC and if they are still in business? Or is there another dealer similar to modify new Wranglers? Was looking to order another custom jeep next month.

Welcome! Not familiar with Wells Custom Jeeps in NC but another custom Jeep? What details can you share about the mods on that Jeep from Wells? Were they custom Jeeps like these?

That link took me to a body repair shop in Oklahoma. A simple google search can put you on point to just about any dealership that sells jeeps pre-fabbed to be sold at unnecessarily ridiculous prices. But if you got the money to blow on a rig you might as well look up reputable folks who actually wheel their shit and would trust it on the trails. If you got the funds (which it sounds like you do) why not buy a brand new rig and build it to your specific needs and wants instead of picking out a jeep that MIGHT be CLOSE to what you want and then spend more cash to make it how you want it.. unless you're just gonna pound pavement at the mall of course then by all means blow 80 grand on a rig that still runs open diffs and 24 inch rims and tires with a sidewall that's an inch tall. Those jeeps are definitely judged by other jeepers who actually take their shit off road and aren't scared of scratches dents and bruises. Just keep that in mind my man. Every now and then theres a fella that's just flat out balls deep in some cash and can buy a rig like than and wheel the sack off it. But they are really far and few between. I'm just saying you can buy a brand new Rubicon JL and hook it up to to be twice as bad ass as the rigs off the dealer lot for almost half the cost. Dont waste your money just because you dont have to deal with your rig being in the shop while it's being BUILT to YOUR specifications. Just food for thought

I definitely agree with Boondoc89 though I'm not the ball buster he is. I'll only go for the left nut. The prices of the already built at the dealerships jeeps are outrageous, and the jeeps are built by a local shop (not the dealer) and then marked up again by the dealer. I suggest you buy the jeep you want and then take it to a local well-reviewed off-road shop to have it modified the way you like it. You will come out much cheaper. There is not much aftermarket support for the JL yet especially in the way of axles and axle components. If you want to look good on the street and you are going to be a serious offroad wheeler, get the cheapest Rubicon you can and take it to the off-road shop for lift wheels and tires fenders etc. If all you want is looks you don't necessarily need to buy a Rubicon. I understand that not everyone wants to go offroad. Most jeeps built today never leave pavement and I understand that. As a wheeler I realize that I am the minority today, and despite the poor performance offroad I have learned to see the beauty in some of the Urban built jeeps.

CV32 - sadly, Mike Wells the president and owner of Wells Custom Jeeps passed away on Nov. 25 at the age of 53. http://www.moserfuneralhome.com/obituary/Michael-William-Wells/Manteo-North-Carolina/1824240
The business is closing, as he pretty much ran everything. He had just built an amazing new place in NC, they were here in VA for the past 5 years. I was fortunate enough to build out a Jeep with Mike in 2016, they are truly special custom Jeeps that shipped all over the U.S. Attached a couple pics of mine. Sorry I can't offer advice on anyone who builds an equivalent Jeep. Good luck.

This Wells story is getting stranger and stranger. Good thing my Jeep is built to perform rather than bought.

On another note... but the same... you come here and make one post... just to belittle the people who spend hard earned cash on their rig. And then they'll wheel it till it breaks and then fix it and keep wheeling. You're the same asshole posting as different names. I got you down pat son. Get a moderator on here to check it out. @chris4x4 . Look him up. IP addresses dont lie.

I knew that was the case with the apparent suicide, sorry I didn’t update this thread. Others with their Jeeps stuck in the new Wells building have provided details on another Jeep forum. I am copying some of my post from there here: I was a happy Wells customer and as I said earlier, still love my 2016 JK that he built for me and I got it at a great price - I regularly get comments on the precision of the mods. I have talked to upwards of 30 or so people that also bought Wells Jeeps that were equally as happy with their purchase and their experience with Mike and are simply as baffled as I am as to how these events turned so tragic in the last month that culminated with him apparently taking his own life. Based on the good track record of Wells from 2013 to early 2018, there was no reason for anyone to doubt Wells was going to deliver their Jeep and no one could have possibly anticipated this sad and bizarre outcome. I am not going to speculate as to what predicament Mike got himself into with the new shop or new partners in NC, because I don’t know all the facts. But, I do know that he was not screwing over customers for many years while in VA and seemed to be running a very reputable business. I doubt we will ever know the full sordid details, but hopefully those people that have their Jeeps stuck in the shop and/or had already paid some money get some satisfaction.

Somebody has to call somebody out... I'll be that guy. If I get in trouble then fine by me. But I know when some ass is yanking OUR CHAIN!!!

I’m confused, Boondoc are you directing that response to me? If so, you can look up IP addresses all you want, this is the only name I am posting under on this forum. If it is different IP address, then some would be from my phone and others from laptop. Anyhow, I am not belittling anyone here. I feel terrible for anyone that has a Jeep or money held up in this crazy and sad situation. Everything I post here is 100% truth and just my experience. Maybe you need to lay off the sauce tonight bro and get your facts straight.

I just find it weird that you can only make one post regarding Mike from wells custom very shortly after dude started a thread about it. Maybe I should get "on the sauce" and really let you have it you little bitch. I'm in Mansfield ohio if you really wanna square up. This site is for people who wanna help each other out and make things easier for who are In need of help and wanna wheel their REAL rig. You think I'm scared of some bitch who's got some money to buy a pavement princess?? Think again son. You ain't no better than anybody else here.

Ok, first, you need help bro. Here is the website:https://wellsautos.com/. You can click on the icons at the top of that site to go to their Facebook page where you can read all the posts from people with their Jeeps stuck who are trying to get help and also read the sentiments from other happy customers who had success with this company before their demise. Or I’ll try to post it here if that helps you: You’ll see there is an attorney involved - the info is on the Facebook page as well if you care to call them to get the facts on the sad story on how Mike committed suicide and the Fed’s are investigating.

Last and sadly enough, here is Mike’s obituary: http://www.moserfuneralhome.com/obituary/Michael-William-Wells/Manteo-North-Carolina/1824240

I have no idea what web browser you may be using to search for Wells Custom Jeeps, but I think you are the one that needs to be blocked from this forum. I am simply someone that purchased one of their Jeeps and was trying to help here. I’ll accept your apology after you click through all their links my friend.
