Can this be? I recently purchased a 98 Sahara. The hood has Rubicon on it. Is this a decal placed by previous owner or is it legit? If legit what should i look for to confirm?
    Thanks

Welcome! Primary differences found on the Rubicon are the lockers, sway bar disconnect, 4:1 transfer case. Some jeepers like to build their own and can make the Sport or Sahara equal or exceed a stock Rubicon.
Your Sahara could just have a Rubicon sticker or a replacement hood off a Rubi and hopefully priced accordingly. Regardless it's a Jeep Wrangler and is waiting for your personal build. Pics of the jeep.

Howell fuel injection, header, HEI distributor, TH350, NP208, SOA lift with YJ springs in the front & GW springs in the Rear. AMC20 with G2 1 piece chromos trussed, Dana 30 with G2 chromos and 760x ujoints and MM Stainless Hubs, Geared 4.56. Tom Woods shafts, Metal cloaks, Caged, 37" Toyo MTs.
The Rubicon has a front Dana 44, locking differentials both front and rear controlled by switches in the cab, an electronic front swaybar disconnect also controlled by a switch in the cab, and a 4:1 transfer case; none of which the Sahara will have.

I don't think the "Rubicon" option was available before 2003

Thanks for the replies. It appears that the previous owner liked Rubicon on the hood. Only true Jeepers would know the diff.

My non-Rubicon LJ had Rubi stickers on the hood when I bought it. They were gone within an hour of me getting it home. :)
