    Hi Everyone,

I bought my new Jeep JL in August last year, and since Fall was coming soon, I didn't buy any other top for it, so just stuck with my hard top. But, I cannot wait until Summer so I can take the top off and go to work and such. However, it is my daily driver, and I am concerned about getting caught in the rain. I don't want to keep taking the top on and off. I would like some sort of soft top that I can "quickly" take as much off as I can for the nice sunny days, yet have it be something that protects the inside for the days it rains. Complete soft tops are expensive to buy. I was wondering, what other options are out there? What do other people do in this situation, because I know I am not the only one.

Thanks for any advice you can give!

    Derek

Welcome! Bestop has exactly what you're looking for. Simple to open and close like sitting in a Miata. Check out Bestop Sunrider

Ok, that isn't really what I am asking for. I don't have any problem removing the freedom panels on and off. I want something where I can have the whole top open, like topless, and maybe even the back sides. I guess kinda like what you can do with a soft top, yet not have to pay over $1000 to get one. Like is there a combination of different tops I can use that will do the trick?

I drive with a wet ass in that situation. Once spring hits and I take the top off it's a safari top till it's too cold for that , about mid November

No combo tops like you described exist unless DIY (with a tarp or bikini top) as the BestTop Sunrider is the closest to a combo hard+soft top. The new JL soft top has some of the options you're looking for like ez removal of rear window sections. In an effort to help you spend just under a grand but actually simplify one-person hard top install+removal check out the TopLift PRO. Something I would consider if the price would come down or a competitive product was available. You-tube videos show that the TopLift PRO is extremely ez to remove+install+store a hard-to-handle hardtop.

I might pay $300 for one because it does work well but $979 is insane. Someone made something similar using a HF engine shop crane

3 inch zone lift. Fox 2.0 shocks. 35 inch nitto ridge grapplers. Bushwacker flat fenders. No name steel bumpers front and back for now.
I just use 3 ratchet straps and hook them onto my joists in my garage. Works really well and I can do it without any help
