Can someone please set me straight, I almost wish I never looked into it, so many different opinions on this! My Cherokee booklet says to use mopar atf+4 but so many people say to not use atf, it should be ps fluid only. I’ve just got new pas pipes as mine were corroded and leaking when I bought it a couple of months back. I don’t want to run into the same problem again, any advice/ expert knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Ok friend, the jeep is a KJ model known as a liberty and marketed to third world heathens as a cherokee.

See if this attachment helps, let us know. 2 important things -

    1) Welcome to the forums - glad to have you :jeepwave:

    B) take nothing seriously - have fun

Ah I always have trouble finding information on “Cherokee” and wondered why libertys always came up instead. Now I know, so they are the same thing right? That fact sheet concludes that ATF +4 is correct for mine then. Thank you so much for the information, and your time. And thank you for the kind welcome....

Do you know the quantity I would require if completely draining the power steering system?

Welcome @aidanmoffatt ! Owners manual usually state the PS capacity and recommended fluid type but one should be able use the markings found on PS reservoir. Replacement of dirty dark PS fluid has a role in preventing tube corrosion.

I was kind of meaning, if I bought a 1ltr bottle, would it be enough. The good ones are kind of pricey, so I don’t want to buy more than I need to. Thanks anyway, everywhere I look just says, “to fill line” for capacity, so I’m guessing it won’t be a huge amount.

Fyi: since the PS lines (pipes) have been replaced you should remove any air in the lines.

    Welcome to the forum. @aidanmoffatt
I see your issue has been addressed. Buy 2 bottles. Doesn't hurt to have some on the garage shelf for a top off. Drop the cash. You own a Jeep. It's worth it.
