Sun faded fender flares

    Mopar 2" lift, 37" BFG KO2's, KMC Rockstar 17" wheels, JCR Offroad front and rear bumpers, WARN Zeon 10-S, CoolTech CB Radio Kit, Rock Slide Engineering step sliders, TeraFlex adjustable steering stabilizer, Rock Krawler adjustable track bars,Magnaflow dual tip black exhaust.
    Has anyone come up with a secret formula, method, or product for restoring the black color of the TJ fender flares. The 2003 Jeep I'm about to adopt as part of the family has badly faded flares and I'd like to breathe new life into them rather than buying new.

    6 inch lift, 35" tires, .488 gears and 4.7L Stroker pushing 300 HP
    Several products work well temporarily, especially 'Tire Shine Plus' by Croftgate USA. It's a little pricey but it keeps tires and trim looking new (not wet) for about a month and 2 or 3 washings. I would probably go the flexible paint route, but I'm set up for it and enjoy it. (Too many fumes? :crazy:)

    Some online videos showing good success with heat guns on the faded plastic fenders. Technique is slow+steady application of heat and avoid painted metal surfaces. Top coat applications were used to prolong the "new" finish.

    That does work, but keep it on low and be VERY careful not to stop anywhere. I ruined a good set of flares like that by causing a dip in one. You can't buy just one to replace it. I would start with a hot hair dryer first. Good luck!

    I use 303 protectant from time to time. Seems to give me the best results.

    New hard top/paint job heater upgrade with blazer motor, A/C, 33”all terrain wheels and rims, new seats, upgraded electrical system, 8000# warn winch. Home made bumper upgrades.
    Try linseed oil for faded fenders .strong odor until dry, but works for a while and cheap.

    You can buy vinyl paint from an automotive paint supply store , works great won't chip off

    Ive seen heat treatment work really well. Different protectants seem to work for a while. I used Back to Black on my old XJ. But it seemed every thing i ever used was only a temporary fix. The never ending....how to thread. :annoyed:. However...I replaced my JKs flares with painted flares. Never an issue with me again. :taco:

    Yes, Did this about a year and a half ago. I was skeptical before trying but this absolutely does work.

    See my before and after pics below...... Pay no attention to my old stock rims, front bumper and hood latches LOL.

    We have used Forever Black that we picked up at 4WP. Easy to apply, lasts a long time and looks great.
