    Body work, wheels and tires,
Hi everyone, I’m the new, somewhat smart, woman owner of a ‘81 CJ7 V6 4x4 with a 4-speed. Also brand new to this forum. Purchased the Jeep from a friend in SWFL and will be shipping or sending it out to Central Texas where I reside. I have a couple of questions and hoping y’all can give me some feedback and suggestions.
    1. Where can I look to make arrangements for hauling or shipping the CJ from Florida to Texas?
    2. What areas or things should I have my local mechanic or savvy guy friend look for when I get it out there and can get down to the details? It has had some minor body work done but is in great original shape. I was told that the brakes probably need to be rebuilt and that it needs new seats.
    Thanks! Appreciate it!

    Welcome!
My 1st jeep was a CJ7. Sure miss that one.
Sorry as I can't help with any of your questions. I imagine a transportation company is going to be expensive for such a task. I wonder if you can find someone private party local to where you purchased it with a racecar trailer? Instead of a shipping company.

Welcome @SaltyCrackerTexan ....thats one nice CJ in great shape with some awesome patina....one-way u-haul trailer rental might be possible. A website to start your search for options for delivery runs about $1000+ https://www.uship.com/vehicles/?ag=...FrMee9e0BbDLlQfe3yPCW5fb5HG60acBoCTQ4QAvD_BwE

For a nearly 40 yr-old Jeep the brakes probably need a thorough inspection for rusty leaky lines, frozen MS or broken springs unless it was maintained by previous owner. Otherwise welcome to the jeep club and again a nice CJ

    Welcome from Oklahoma.
Decent looking CJ with the typical rust areas.
I long for an old CJ.
Not sure there is many things better than an attractive woman in an old Jeep.

Good luck with getting your newly purchased vehicle home. You should make sure all the worn out parts get replaced like steering componets and those brakes fixed. Get some repair manuals and an electrical diagram so you know where everything is at. There is a lot on info out there on the net to help you out, including forums pages. One of the weak points is the electrical system as it is simple but poorly made. For many of the connections that require a return wire to the battery AMC chose to use the body and frame which is a poor conductor of electricity. This does require adding additional wiring. Another issue is the two piece axle that the later CJs came with, a replacement would be a one piece axle. Fortunately this has already been done. I have to also suggest not driving with those hood hold down clamps undone, I found that out the hard way.
