New to me, has new front and rear bumpers. Winch.
Hello, picking up my new to me, 17 Wrangler JK, Willy on Thursday. Was curious about one topic, and that is rain when you have the top off and also the doors? I always hear the Jeeps are mostly water proof, what about seats, carpet, radio?? Even if you have one of the Bikini tops or a mesh top, rain would still get in..

    Thanks
    Scot

The electronics are susceptible to water.
    Also welcome from Oklahoma.

Yeah, that's a new one on me. Water can cause corrosion and short circuts. When it gets into air intakes it really can cause havoc. Jeeps are not immune.

Welcome @syounger ....if you plan to expose the jeep to occasional rain showers its best to remove the carpet and open the drain plugs to make it almost wash+wear ready. Otherwise the carpet will get moldy, smelly and invite rust. The electronics are not waterproof so try to keep those areas covered on and around the dash. Waterproof seat covers would be a good idea. Once my daily driver YJ was about 5 yrs old it was ready for surprise rain showers as it was topless / doorless all summer. Used a dry towel to wipe the vinyl seats before driving home from work and if it was raining the bikini top kept the rain off my head while speeding down the road.....good times but now everything is complicated :( Luv the vinyl seats, covered the dash with a small tarp, drain plugs + carpet removed and minimal electronics made it wash+wear ready.

Ok, so it is not magical. I just thought maybe all the people I see riding around without a top and doors knew something that I did not. I guess they are carrying some type of top to throw on if it looks like rain. Thanks for confirming what I thought. My friend who also just bought a new Jeep last week was trying to tell me, “yea it is all water proof, even the radio, it will be fine”.

My original radio had no weather issues . Like I said my hard top comes off in May my safari top goes on and it stays that way till October at least. Upon everyone's life some rain must fall

In many of the Jeep groups I see posts about people who got caught in some rain and now their dash doesn't work and the screen for their infotainment system is messed up.
Jeeps aren't the utilitarian vehicles they once were.

Yep I should preface my posts on this with it ain't a JK or JL it's a TJ best Jeep series they ever made. I power washed my Jeep last weekend with no top or doors I washed floors and everything but the dash even broke my visor trying to wash the inside of the windshield

My tires throw mud on the inside of my windshield when my doors and top are off lol. It gets downright dangerous sometimes
