I recently (Friday) purchased a 1980 Jeep CJ7. I needs some work but is in reasonably good condition. Not being an expert on Jeeps I was hoping someone could answer this question.
What were the differences between a base Jeep, a Laredo, a Renegade, and a Golden Eagle.
Was it just a certain level of trim and some decals or was there some specific mechanical differences between them. The one I purchased has a 304 cubic inch engine. Don't know if it was original or changed at a later date. Thanks in advance.

Generally just a trim package however the Golden Eagle only came with the 304 V8, the Renegade had the 2.5 I4, 258 I6 or 304 V8, and the Laredo was the 258 only.

I'm pretty sure that the '80 was the last year for the 304 in a CJ.
