I have a 2001 4 door Cherokee that I wanna do a full convertible (roof removal) and I'd like it to be as clean as the example pictured, I'd like to reinforce the frame as much as possible with it being visible, and adding as few roll cage elements as are absolutely necessary. I want to finish it with a clean factory look. I've seen some threads where they say it can't be done effectively without ruining the rigidity of the whole thing. I'd also like to incorporate one heavy support roll bar right behind the back seat, for roll over support, auxiliary lights, and the third tail light. Any pointers in body and frame support would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome @UgleeAndStoopid ...neat project proposal on the poor XJ. But the unibody design will need reinforcement. They market frame stiffeners for the XJ to address certain unibody issues that you should look into adding onto whatever extra reinforcement you will need once the roof is removed.

    Good luck in your quest.
I am not sure there is a safe way to do this without a roll cage tied into the "frame".
