Hello from Staten Island NY. Im new to this forum and have a bunch of questions but for now my main question would be any beginner off road trails nearby to take my Jk with no upgrades for a spin. Thanks!!

Welcome @Mark120 ....could depend upon what you consider nearby. Both Rausch Creek off road park and Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area are over 2 hours away for me to get some real trail time. It might be just a bit more for you to get to those two parks. Could make for a long day (6 hr in the park) but it was awesome (staying overnight is optional for night rides). Both off road parks work with Off Road Consulting who offer 101 classes for beginners and advance classes. Heck I drove 2+ hr to buy my JK when the local dealers weren't dealing let alone offering a brochure...lol

Isn't negotiating NYC roads and traffic akin to 'offroading' ?

your JK is already a capable off road vehicle, before spending on the bicycle streamers, decide what you want the jeep for, hunting fishing those back forest service roads, the sands and beaches, mud holes and rock climbing, a more remote camping experience, confidence in the brutal winters of staten island, the galleria parking lot and photo ops.
