Unknown Jeep Problem

    Recently I have been noticing i haven’t been getting the same power output when I press on the gas. To test my engine, when I got to a red light, I put the car in neutral and pressed the gas pedal all the way down. The RPM Needle maxed out at 3500 RPMs. Yet the car is supposed to max out at about 6000. Is this a transmission problem? Or maybe spark plug issue? Any help is appreciated.

    Welcome to the site! When you are in Neutral, the computer wont let you rev past 3500 rpm's to prevent any potential for over revving it. That's how its designed.

    The issue sounds transmission problem.
    Lets get started with some basic ck's -
    Is there any chance the Check Engine Light is on?
    Any chance you know the type of transmission?
    Could this be a CVT, no gears just Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive?

    Sorry its more to diagnostics than just male or female. :)

    No check engine lights are on and the transmission is, in fact, a CVT transmission. And thank you for the welcome!

    The CVT trans is somewhat TEMPERAMENTAL*, suggest you discusse with a professional DEDICATED transmission specialty shop** - not AAMCO - also check with jeep as they have special programs for these transmissions.

    ** check website for ATRA for a trans shop

    Welcome @Marrrq ....concur that it could be a CVT trans issue. Got rid of my Nissan when the CVT had an intermittent fail-to-move mode. Get any generic codes scanned and post them. Codes within the TCM might need to be read by the dealer.

    @Awrench ... So I did a little more research on the CVT Transmission and when im driving the engine is making a whining sound. Through my research its saying that that whining sound is a transmission pump issue. Is this the case? If so.. is it safe to still be driving the car with this issue?
