I'm looking to fix my speedometer/odometer but in doing that i have replaced my speepo cable which did not fix the problem and now it may be my speedo drive gear. Looking for some help on getting to that gear, then replacing it with the correct one. Thanks

Looks like the speedometer is not seating into the trany properly. Not sure if the drive gear is even intact

I had an issue once on my Dana 300 tc, where I installed a new gear due to a tire dia. change and it did not work. A removal and reinstall did the trick.

It is quite easy, it is where the cable goes into the transfer case. Although since you did not mess with it the gear is probably fine. There might be an issue with the end of the cable drive into the speedo gear itself. When you replaced the cable you might have not inserted the cable directly into the gear or the cable might not be inserted correctly into the speedometer. So I would suggest you unscrew the cable from the transfer case and make sure it is inserted into the speedo gear socket. The speedometer end is a bit easier to install, so you probably got that right. Hopefully you applied plenty of speedometer lubricant to the cable before you installed it into the tube. If you have oversize tires with a stock transfer case speedo gear there will be an incorrect reading on the speedometer also.
